Officially incorporated in 1961, Ancom began when two young and idealistic Swiss immigrants scraped together $1,000 to start a company called Symatic, Inc. Their product was a production control system that consisted of a pouch-style file folder with a special plastic hanger suspended on an aluminum frame.

In 1963, a distraught dentist asked if the system could be adapted to organize a dental office, and a successful enterprise developed. In 1978 a company called Ancom joined forces with Symatic in order to cover a wider segment of the healthcare field, and the Ancom name was eventually adopted as the brand. The present building in Brunswick, Ohio was completed in 1988, and by the 1990s Ancom was well established as the premier cabinetmaker for the hanging files.

Eventually, new product lines such as end-tab filing products and steel shelving were added. Still owned by one of the two Swiss entrepreneurs and his family, Ancom has adapted to the current needs of all types of businesses that use and store paper records.

Today, Ancom is a team of 40 employees who manufacture and distribute filing and storage system solutions and supplies for healthcare, government, legal and business professionals nationwide. We are dedicated to earning the confidence and trust of our clients by achieving a superior level of customer service with a personal touch.
